UNDERSTANDING YOUR SYMPTOMS
What are the symptoms of Sjögren’s?
Sjögren’s is a chronic autoimmune disease that commonly affects the glands producing tears and saliva. Dry eyes and dry mouth are familiar symptoms, but fatigue, pain and other body systems can also be involved. It can occur on its own or alongside another autoimmune condition. Symptoms and their impact differ from person to person.
Dry or gritty eyes
Eyes may burn, itch or feel irritated, sometimes with light sensitivity.
Dry mouth
Dryness may make speaking, tasting food or swallowing feel more difficult.
Fatigue
Tiredness can be substantial and affect how much a day holds.
Joint and muscle pain
Aching joints or muscles may be part of the wider experience.
Gland swelling
Some people notice swelling in glands around the face or neck.
Concentration changes
Problems with concentration or memory may accompany other symptoms.
Symptoms can have more than one cause, and experiences vary. A symptom list cannot tell you whether you have Sjögren’s. A healthcare professional can assess your symptoms and decide which tests or follow-up are appropriate.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY, TOGETHER
Less to remember. More to talk about.
A symptom journal gives the day-to-day details of life with Sjögren’s a place to go. With Jetty, you can talk or type about your symptoms and daily life while they’re still fresh.
Jetty keeps your health notes organized over time, helping you look back on changes and prepare the symptom history and questions you want to bring to your next appointment.
What to put in your symptom journal
Describe dryness in specific moments: reading, speaking, eating or waking overnight. Add fatigue and pain notes so your record reflects the whole day, including symptoms that are harder to see.
Bring observations from eye, dental and rheumatology visits into the same personal timeline. Note your current medicines and questions for each clinician, without having to retell every detail from memory.
Questions you might bring: Which of these symptoms should we assess together? How can my eye, dental and medical care be coordinated?
