UNDERSTANDING YOUR SYMPTOMS
What are the symptoms of POTS?
Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, or POTS, involves an unusually large heart-rate increase when upright, together with symptoms such as lightheadedness. It is a form of autonomic nervous system dysfunction, affecting processes the body usually regulates automatically. The experience can extend beyond heart rate to fatigue, concentration, digestion, and the demands of everyday activities.
Lightheadedness
Being upright may bring dizziness or a feeling that you might faint.
Palpitations
Your heartbeat may feel unusually noticeable, fast, or forceful when upright.
Fatigue
Persistent exhaustion can make work, school, and ordinary errands more demanding.
Brain fog
Focusing, remembering details, or keeping up with a task may feel difficult.
Nausea
Feeling sick or having digestive discomfort can add to the day's challenges.
Shakiness
Trembling or feeling shaky may accompany other symptoms when you are upright.
Symptoms can have more than one cause, and experiences vary. A symptom list cannot tell you whether you have POTS. A healthcare professional can assess your symptoms and decide which tests or follow-up are appropriate.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY, TOGETHER
Less to remember. More to talk about.
A symptom journal gives the day-to-day details of life with POTS a place to go. With Jetty, you can talk or type about your symptoms and daily life while they’re still fresh.
Jetty keeps your health notes organized over time, helping you look back on changes and prepare the symptom history and questions you want to bring to your next appointment.
What to put in your symptom journal
Describe what you were doing and whether you were standing, sitting, or lying down. Include how the episode felt, how long it lasted, and what interrupted your plans.
A number alone may miss the shopping trip or shower behind it. Mention heat, meals, and time spent upright when relevant, without assuming any one detail explains an episode.
Questions you might bring: What information should I record alongside episodes of lightheadedness? Which changes should I contact you about, and what is my plan if I faint?
